Jay-Z, a known Arsenal fan, is reportedly considering making an offer to take over Tottenham Hotspur after the current owner, Joe Lewis, was charged with insider trading (a term referring to the trading of a company’s stocks or securities by individuals within that company).
According to Daily Express, sources close to Jay-Z revealed that the renowned rapper is currently awaiting the resolution of Joe Lewis’s case. Moreover, if the price is right, Beyonce’s husband is determined to make a definitive move.
“Some of the top clubs out there, like Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea, are now under American ownership, and Jay-Z sees an opportunity to take a leadership role at Tottenham.”
“Whether Joe Lewis will depart willingly remains to be seen. If not, Jay-Z wants to be in a position to move swiftly when he deems the price to be right. He will receive support from fellow investors.”
In recent days, it has been reported that Jay-Z is rallying several American investors in an effort to acquire Tottenham Hotspur. The perennial rivals of Arsenal are currently estimated to be valued at $2.8 billion.
An Arsenal Fan
Jay-Z has been a fan of the Arsenal since the 1990s, and he has been seen attending games at the Emirates Stadium on numerous occasions. He is also a close friend of Thierry Henry, who played for Arsenal from 1999 to 2007.
In 2010, Jay-Z told Arsenal Magazine that he was a fan of the club because of Henry. He said, “I was a fan of Arsenal before I met Thierry, but he definitely made me a bigger fan. He’s one of the greatest players to ever play the game, and he’s a great person as well.”
There have been rumors that Jay-Z is interested in buying a stake in Arsenal. However, he has not confirmed or denied these rumors.
